Problems and Answers to the CAM Fonts

1. FILE NAMES

1Line
These fonts have a line width of exactly zero and are the perfect engraving fonts without compromise.

1LineFast
These fonts have a line width of exactly zero. In these fonts duplicate elements have been omitted to accelerate the output. As a result of the optimization some characters appear filled on the screen, but are still correct on output. If you demand fastest possible output and can accept the non-perfect display, you should use these fonts.

2Line
These fonts have a minimal thickness to be displayed correctly on the screen for systems like Windows and some older Versions of Apple (with activated Antialiasing).

/font  Type-1 Font packages for OpenStep and Display-PostScript Systems
/nfont Type-1 Font packages for GNUstep
/otf OTF Fonts for Apple (und Windows)
/pfa Type-1 Fonts (ASCII) for Unix-Systems, Linux, GhostScript, etc.
/pfb Type-1 Fonts (Binary) for the use in AutoCAD, for example
/ttf TrueType Fonts for Windows
/ttf/Western1252   TrueType Fonts for Windows (Western1252 Encoding)

2. INSTALLATION

Apple (.otf)

Copy the fonts from the folder 1Line/otf to the font folder in your home directory (Library/Fonts). Also, a double click on the fonts opens the FontBook and allows installation. The fonts are available after restarting the application using the fonts.

z.B.: 1Line/otf -> Users/NAME/Library/Fonts

Windows (.ttf)
1.  As Administrator, copy the fonts from the folder 2Line/ttf to a folder on your computer.
2. Then double click System Control -> Fonts (???). If you have installed fonts with the same name, you have to remove them first.
3. Now, you can drag and drop the new fonts from the folder to the Fonts window.

In case, your system can't handle the newer Unicode encoding yet, you have to use the fonts with the Windows-specific Western1252 encoding.

OpenStep (.font)
Copy the fonts from the folder 1Line/fonts to the font folder in your Home directory:

z.B.: 1Line/fonts -> /Users/NAME/Library/Fonts/

Now enter the following command in a terminal window:

buildafmdir

After rebooting the system, the fonts are ready for use. If you installed the fonts for the first time, no reboot is needed.

GNUstep (.nfont)
Copy the fonts from the folder 1Line/nfonts to your GNUstep font folder:

z.B.: 1Line/nfonts -> /home/NAME/GNUstep/Library/Fonts

GhostScript (.pfa)
Copy the fonts from the folder 1Line/pfa to the font folder of GhostScript. Then you have to add the font names to the file Fontmap. For Linux:

z.B.: 1Line/pfa -> /usr/share/ghostscript/fonts

AutoCAD (.pfb)
Use the COMPILE command in AutoCAD to convert your postscript font file (.pfb) to the .SHX format.
